Golden Light

God is training you to practice patience. If you want peace, you must learn to master your emotions, your anxiety, and your sins. Alone, the darkness will overpower you. After a while, your sins will successfully burrow your into a cave, devoid of light and love.

However, what you don’t realize is that this cave turns into a tunnel because God is breaking through the rubble that you’ve built between yourself and Him. At the end of this tunnel, you can see that God is shining a golden light for you to follow out of your solitude and despair. Do not recoil from these afflictions, since they are amongst His most favored gifts. Trust Him and don’t be afraid, for He is your strength and song.

“In Him is Life and He is the light of men. And the light shines in darkness. For darkness has never overpowered the light.”

Whom is Against You?

Christ is with you and for you. When you decide on a course of action that is in line with His will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you.

You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goals, but don’t be discouraged– never give up! With God’s help, you can overcome any obstacle. Do not expect any easy path as you journey hand in hand with your Creator, but do remember that He, your very present Helper is omnipotent.

Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things happen before their times have come. One main ways He asserts my sovereignty is in the timing of events.

“By your steadfastness and patient endurance, you shall win the true life of your soul.” –Luke 21:19

no testimony without the test

We need to learn not to let our mind and emotions get the best of us, especially when it involves things we cannot control.

Suppose you are on your way to work and get caught in traffic. How do you react? Is it worth getting upset and unleashing a wild temper? Wouldn’t it be better for you to remain calm, even if you are late and get yelled at by your boss? If you do your best, God will do the rest in your life.

Refuse to get upset and take control of your emotions. Things never go as planned; that is why many have said, “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!” Refuse to allow your mind, will, and emotion rule your spirit. In your patience, you will learn to possess your soul.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit.”

–Psalm 34:17-18

We can achieve the victorious life when we live for God. Sometimes we associate victory with success: not falling, stumbling or making mistakes. But those who are successful in their own strength tend to go their own way, forgetting about God. It is through problems and failure, weakness and neediness that we rely on Christ.

True dependence on God is not simply asking Him to bless what you have decided to do. It is coming to God with an open mind and heart; inviting Him to plant His desires within you. He may infuse within you a dream that seems far beyond your reach. You know that in yourself, you cannot achieve such a goal. Thus begins your journey of profound reliance on The Lord. It is a faith-walk, taken one step at a time, leaning on God as much as needed. This is not a path of continual success but of multiple failures…that is the beauty of it and here resonates true “victory” in your life. However, each failure is followed by a growth spurt, nourished by increased reliance in God.

Enjoy a victorious life, by relying your dreams in the maker of the universe!

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it’s waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

–Psalm 46:1-3

depths of sea

God is preparing the road ahead, just around the bend. Take time to be still in His presence in order for Him to strengthen us. Some people, such as myself, become foolish by making ourselves too busy. When we do this, we subconsciously try to embark on life’s struggles all by ourselves. As a result, we live and work in our own strength which is too weak to live on and then we become depleted and discouraged. I fell victim to this and believed that God was being unfair in my life and although, Christ was only teaching me a lesson. This is because I was too busy to put my full reliance in Him as my Savior. Thankfully He pulled me out and showed me the way back to Him and His refuge.

It is much better to walk close to God and take refuge in His strength then go at it alone. In fact, we will often become discouraged and turn away from our goals if we do this or something as I did. Think of it this way, He did go through a great deal of trouble in order to provide us refuge in His infinite strength! Use it.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in Him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

–John 15:5

Move Forward

“I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own yet; but one thing I do it is my one aspiration: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on.” –Philippians 3:13-

In our lives, if we don’t press ahead, we will inevitably stay where we are. If the road seems scary…it is understandable, but do NOT cower in fear. When we fear, we lack faith. When we lack faith, we are mediocrely giving our lives to God. When we finally forget our fear, we can allow God to take the lead.

During monumental moments in our lives, we can take hold of God’s hand and follow a savior who gave us all of Himself in order to carry us in this…

If we press ahead, God will assist us in “moving forward.”

God Provides

On December 27th, 2012, God opened a door that I had once thought, to be closed. A door, leading to my return to college, opened before me; needless to say, I was excited to walk through it and see what lied on the other side. My initial reluctance was due to my bad Financial situation; thus, I was led to believe that I had to take another semester off because of it.

Unusually optimistic, I looked on the bright side and tried to determine what possibilities I could turn to. With my newfound opportunity, I thought of this next “semester-off” and possible uses of my “free time.” This new outlook, included big ideals such as, Mercy Ships, climbing Mt. Kilmanjaro, going hiking through the Appalachian Trail, finishing my book, traveling somewhere in the U.S., and even skydiving!

Although these aspirations are nice, they are only temporary relief. With this said, I believe God decided to reward me for my obedience and allow me to let go of those “newfound opportunities” and replace them with fulfilling my dream. He is giving me something that my heart truly desires: an opportunity to return to school. Now I am one step closer in pursuing my dream to attend The University of Notre Dame because I will be across the street attending Saint Mary’s College. Even though I am not technically there yet, whose to say I will never be? That is not for me to decide, but God. If it is meant to be, it will happen.

No matter how long it takes to obtain a dream, God has placed them within our hearts for a reason. The amount of time it takes to complete it might be long, but it’ll pass-by anyway; we might as well use it to it’s fullest potential. This is what I plan to do.

Sometimes, when we believe it is impossible, God turns around and proves us wrong! Perhaps, this is in order to restore our faith in ourselves.
